=== Life Sketch ===
«b»Biography«/b»
Jane Brereton was born around 1315 [est based on her mother's year of birth (also an est) of 1300, and the estimated birth years of her siblings]. Jane was the daughter of William de Brereton, son of Sir William Brereton of Brereton and Roesia Vernon, and Margery, daughter of Richard de Bosley.
«b»Her parents had several other children:«/b»
1.) Margaret, the wife of Henry, brother of Sir John Delves;
2.) Sir William who married 1) Ellen, daughter of Philip and sister of David Egerton of Egerton, then 2) Margaret, daughter of Done of Utkinton, widow of John Davenport;
3.) John,
4.) Ralph (Radulphus Brereton) was rector of St Wilfrid's church, Davenham, from 1330 until 1351;
5.) Robert
6.) Hugh.
In 27 Edward III, 1354, Jane's brother, Sir William de Brereton, received 100 pounds for the marriage portion of Ellen de Egerton. This was a very advantageous marriage for the family as the Egertons were the Barons of Malpas.
Jane married Sir Adam Bostock, lord of Bostock, kt. In Ormerod's pedigree for Bostock of Bostock, Jane's husband, Adam, is the son of Sir William Bostock of Bostock, knt, and Elizabeth, daughter of James, lord Audley of Heleigh; and this Sir William was, in the early part of Henry III's reign [1216-1272], acknowledged as the grandson of Warin Bostock, and that he held lands of Warin Vernon. The next time frame Ormerod gives is for Jane and Adam's grandson, Adam de Bostock, who was married to Margaret, daughter and coheir of sir John de Wettenhal, lord of Acton, and for whom an Inquisition pm was held in 47 Edward III [1374]. However, in Rylands' pedigree for Bostestock al's Bostock [Harl 1421, fo 23b, Harl 1505, fo 21b] a generation is included between these, so that Sir Adam is the son of Sir Edward who is the son of Sir William. Rylands' pedigree with the extra generation brings Jane more into the time period of the rest of her family.
Jane and Sir Adam had a son, Sir William de Bostock, kt, who married the daughter and sole heir of William Multon, lord of Multon, and/or the daughter and heir to Sir Richard Winington.
