=== Life Sketch ===
Thorndon Manor, Pershore, Worcestershire:
Thorndon is occasionally mentioned as a manor, but seems to have formed part of the manor of Wadborough belonging to the Earls of Warwick. Early in the 12th century William de Beauchamp held a hide and a half at Thorndon and Walcot of the Abbot of Pershore's fief. It was held in the 13th century by a family taking their name from the estate. Roger Abbot of Pershore (1234-50) allowed Maurice de Thorndon to found a chantry in his chapel of Thorndon, and in 1254 Sir Maurice de Thorndon granted to the monks of Pershore a yearly rent from his lands in Pershore. John de Thorndon, who lived at the end of the 13th century, probably succeeded Maurice. His daughter Sibyl married Richard Folliott, and her grandson Roger Folliott was holding the manor in 1315. In 1389 the manor belonged to Richard Thorgrim. Thorndon does not appear as a separate manor after this time. Its site is marked by Thorndon Farm, at Windmill Hill, on the Stoulton boundary
