=== Life Sketch ===
Upon the dearth of Sir John de Callander, there were many claimants for his Estates and Titles. The affair was brought to the King's notice and he appointed Sir Archibald Livingstone, Sheriff of Stirling, to determine who was the rightful heir, and Sir Archibald's decision was, "That as Alwin de Callander being son of the deceased John de Callander and being twenty-eight years old he was the nearest heir." He therefore became Earl of Callander, etc. He died in 1345 and was succeeded by his son Patrick.
