  According to the book A Genealogical and Heraldic History of the Extinct and Dormant Baronetcies of England, Ireland and Scotland, by John and Bernard Burke, John Chudleigh of Broadclyst, Devon, married Thomasine Prous, daughter of Richard Proust and his wife Margaret. Thomasine brought the Ashton property into the marriage, so her husband could not have been born there. Their son was Sir James Chudleigh who married Jane, daughter of Sri John De. They were the parents of James Chudleigh who married Margaret Stourton and the grandparents of William Chudleigh who married Joan Hody. From there the line continues down to Sir Richard Chudleigh, Knight who married Mary, daughter of Sri Nicholas Wadham, who had Christopher Chudleigh who married Christiana Stretchley.
