=== Life Sketch ===
Alice Ledet was born 1250.
Alice was the elder daughter of Walter Ledet, of Corby[1] and Ermentrude de Lisle.
Alice's younger sister Christiana married the brother of Alice's husband, John Latimer.
Alice married circa 1268 Lord William Latimer. Sir William the rich Latimer (born circa 1243), 1st Lord Latimer, was actively engaged in fighting the Scots and the French, though it is not possible to say for certain which William le Latimer is referred to, whether he or his son, in the many references. He [or else his father] was Sheriff Yorkshire and Lord of Danby Manor.
William died in 1304, followed by Alice (March 1316-17).
An Inquisition for Henry de Braybroc was taken in Northamptonshire on an unknown date, found that the two daughters of Walter Ledet, aged 12 and 11, were Henry's heirs, and Henry held Coreby manor in fee and inheritance and by the king's charter, which was the king's ancient demesne before he gave it to Henry and his heirs, who held it at fee farm for 10l. yearly. It was in the king's hands because Robert Peche, who was in the Isle of Ely with the disinherited, had the wardship of the manor through his wife, the widow of Walter Ledet with whom she had two daughters who are the heirs of Coreby manor.
Wife of William le Latimer, 1st Baron Latimer of Corby Mother of Joan le Latimer; Christian De Boys( De Bois, Du Bosco)Bosco; John De Latimer, Lord and William le Latimer IV, 2nd Baron of Corby Sister of Christian Ledet, Heiress of Baybrook Walter Ledet (born c.1230), Baron Braybroke, married (c.1250) Ermentrude Lisle. Walter ded c.1256.
Alice, elder daughter and coheir of Walter Ledet, whereby he acquired Corby, Northants, with other extensive possessions.
He [William le Latimer] married, about 1268 Alice, elder daughter and coheir of Walter LEDET (e), by Ermentrude [? DE LISLE]. With her he had a great inheritance in Northants, including Corby, as also in Beds.
He died 5 December 1304, and was buried at Helpringham, co. Lincoln. His executors had respite of debts 20 May 1305. His widow sent the service of a fourth part of a knight's fee in 1306. In 1316 she held part of Sutton, Beds, and all the hundred and town of Corby Northants. She appears in various pleas from 1306 onwards. She died before 8 March 1316/7, when enquiry was made as to a claim by her son Nicholas le Latimer that her manor of Sutton, Beds, and lands in Potton, should descend to him.
