=== John I de Gatesden, son of Ermengard & Adulf ===
See "Chamberlains in the Ancestry of the Marbury Sisters", The Genealogist,Vol.13 (1999) pp 189ff. ERMENGARD DE BIDUN married ADULF DE GATESDEN. Her share of the honor of Bidun lay at Lathbury and Lavendon in co. Bucks., and at Newton and Coates in co. Northants. Adulf seems to have been a landless younger son. They had been married before 1196…He was alive in 1214 and dead in 1225. In 1232/6 Ermengard was holding a knight’s half fee in Latthbury and in 1242/3, half a fee in Newton and Cotes. In 1254 she was dead, for after the death of Maud de Rocheford, the heirs of Ermengard were found to be John de Gatesden, then living, son of her elder son John, then dead, and Richard de Gatesden, then living, her younger son.
…
John [I] de Gatesden did not occur in the records during his lifetime nor did his wife. In 1236 custody during minority of the lands and heirs of John, son of Adulf de Gatesden, with the marriage of heirs, was granted to John de Gatesden, king's clerk.(see footnote 88 in the article)
