  Peter de Graham, Lord of Dalkeith, ancestor of the elder branch of the family, Barons of Dalkeith, Abercorn, and Eskdale, who, in the early part of the reign of William the Lion, granted to the monks of Newbattle the lands of Bainebuth on the Esk. The charter bears to be granted 'pro salute Domini mei Willelmi Regis et pro anima mea et pro animabus predecessorum meorum et pro anima uxoris meæ Gevæ et pro salute filiorum meorum;' and, if Radulph de Graham after mentioned is correctly supposed to have been his youngest son, he was probably twice married.
