Reginaldus Le FOWLER, is the first one of the line that can be definitelylocated. He died 29 Edward I, 1301. In the Calendarium Genealogicum Henry III and Edward I., Master of the Rolls, Vol. 2, p.602, you find the following: "Reginaldus Le Fowler de Shryvenham.Inquisition Post mortem: Johannes Le Fowler de Shryvenham filiuspraedicti Reginaldi est. propinquior haeres ejus, et est. aetatistriginta duorum annorum amplius, 29 Edward I, 1301. Berks." REFERENCE: Master of the Rolls, Vol. 2, p. 602... "According to certain accounts, the familyof Fowler is of Norman descentand went into England with William the Conqueror in 1066. The earliestrecord of the name in England is that of Richard Fowler of Foxley,County of Buckingham, who accompanied Richard Coeur de Lion (Richard theLionhearted) to the Holy Land in 1191. For his service he won the crestused with the family coat of arms and a a grant of lands at AbbeyCwm-Hir, County of Radnor, Wales. From Richard Fowler were descended thefamilies of that name which were to be found at early dates in England,in the counties of Buckingham, Lancaster, Wilts, Stafford, Oxford,Gloucester, and Shrops, and alsoin Wales and Ireland.
