Nancy Ann Dickerson
- Preferred Name: Nancy Ann Dickerson
- Gender: F
- Burial: in Aitkin, Aitkin Co., Minnesota
- Birth: 11 MAR 1831 in Washtenaw Co., Michigan
- Occupation: in Keeping House
- Death: 3 JUN 1904 in Aitkin, Aitkin, Minnesota
- Notes:
I think she seperated with her husband Stephen before the 1880 Censussince she is listed as the head of the house and Stephen is not listed in that household. She states her father is fom Michigan, althoughI suspect he was born in New Jersey, Nancy was born in Michigan. Furthermore she doesn't know where her mom was born, hence I believe she might be inacurate about her fathers birthplace on the 1880 Federal Census.
Not 100% sure if Abraham is Nancy's Father. I'm about 99% sure. It is known that Abraham is Silas' father. Silas was born in Michigan, so was Nancy in 1831. Abraham is from Michigan. Abraham is the only Dickerson in the 1840 McHenry Co., Census. Nancy could be the child of another Dickerson in McHenry. Their is only one other Dickerson family in McHenry at 1850. Yet this family seems to be from Ohio, not Michigan. Abraham also seems to be the only Dickerson who left Michigan to go to Illinois. It is known through other sources that Abraham was in Illinois by 1839. His other brothers don't seem to have a child named Nancy, plus I don't think Abraham's other brothers emmigratedto Illinois. His father John might have later. It is known that Abraham had eight children, 4 boys and 4 girls. I haven't check the 1840McHenry Co., Census to see how many children were listed on his farm. Yet I don't expect to find any information that might contradict.Short of a birth certificate, I'm almost positive that Abraham is Nancy's father. About 99% sure. Furthermore Nancy named one of her children's middle name Silas. And Nancy's daughter also named one of her children's name Silas. And Abraham's Aunt was named Nancy.
To further cement that Abraham is Nancy's father, we find Abraham's grandchild Cyrus David Dickerson's death in Red Cloud,Webster Co., Nebraska.
I just saw a record in the LDS Database of a Nancy Ann Dickerson bornto Abraham Dickerson and Maria L. (Dickerson) abt 1830 in Michigan
