=== Life Sketch ===
Ivo de Heriz I. Sons of Robert de Heriz I. were Gaufrid de Heriz, who held Stapleford; his daughter Amicia married Richard de Camera, and was ancestor of the family of Strelley, closely thereafter linked to the Stanhope family; Hugh de Stapleford, who held the lesser part of Stapleford, and Ivo de Heriz I., who was Sheriff of Nottingham and Derbyshire, 1127-1129. [W. A. Morris, The Medieval English Sheriff to 1300, p. 82, 1927.] This Ivo also held land in Lower Pillerton, Warwickshire, under Hugh de Grentemesnil II., son of Hugh de Grentemesnil I. and Adeliza de Beaumont-sur-Oise, descendant of Radulpus de Beaumont, who held it of Henry de Beaumont, Earl of Warwick. [Pipe Roll, 30 Hen. I.] Hugh de Grentemesnil II. was the father of Petronilla de Grentemesnil, wife of Robert III. de Beaumont, Earl of Leicester. Ivo married Emma de Bilborough, daughter of [H]erbert de Bilborough, knight of William Peverel I. 'Erbert, a knight of William Peverel's, held this Manor [of Gonalston] in the time of King Henry I. and left it to Emma his eldest daughter, and one of his co-heirs, who, marrying to Ivo de Heriz, brought this manor into his family.' [Thomas Cox, Anthony Hall, Robert Morden, Magna Britannia p. 104, 1738.] Emma's younger sister, Ivicia, obtained Bilborough.
Emma married Ivo de Heriz Sheriff of Nottinghamshire, son of Robert de Heriz Sheriff of Nottinghamshire and Unknown. (Ivo de Heriz Sheriff of Nottinghamshire was born about 1100 in Nottinghamshire, England.)

When Hubert de Bilborough died without an heir male his inheritance here and elsewhere was divided between his two daughters. To Emma, the elder, fell Gonalston, Widmerpool and other possessions; she married Ivo de Heriz and their posterity were long the lords of Gonalston. Ivicia, the younger daughter, had Bilborough: she married one Aman, of Nottingham, and complications ensued.
