Biography
He took his surname from his mother's family, through whom he inherited his barony of Great Weldon. However his father's surname was used by his children.
According to Keats-Rohan, in her entry for:
He succeeded his father about 1135-1146.
He married twice, first to Amice, probably a relative of Robert II de Stafford, second to Sibil Mauduit, "whose age in 1185 was given as fifty in the Rotuli de Dominabus, which says she had two sons and a daughter, but that Geoffrey's heir Richard was the son of the first wife".
Died 1180 when his son Richard II Basset was his heir.
