  John Dickerson had a farm in Salem in section 22. He was born in Morris County, New Jersey on September 12, 1795. His parents were Charles and Huldah (Chamberlain) Dickerson. They moved to Seneca County New York in 1798.
  
  In the autumn of 1825, he and his cousin Joseph Dickerson came to Michigan in Salem Township, where they bought 80 acres of land, and land in Wayne County. He returned to New York July 1826.
