  1204-05 - Derbyshire - HUGH Okeover -vs- Wiliam Montgomery -in a plea - that he should accept his homage & a resonaable releif doe rhe freehold, which he held of William Montgomery , in Snelston - William appeared & denied that HUGH should hold the free hold - HUGH -peplied that he was in seisin of the tenement, was warrantor for Margart, wife Roger Purtrel, who held in dower of the gift of RICHARD, Hugh's brother, formerley husband of said Margaret , because the tnement was the tight & inheritance of the father of said HUGH & his ancestors, & the father of HUGH had done haomage for it to Walter Montgomery, the father of said William Montgomery. & he further said that RICHARD his brother by anothor wife, had married MARGARET m with concent of his father, so that the father had given the tenement to him for his support, & RICHARD had died in the lifetime of their father, & Margaret had retained the sad manor, & it had been promsied as her dower, for 1/3 of said manor
