Although not readily located on contemporary maps, the village of Yealand Redmayne is shown about one mile NE of Yealand Manor.
The title and lands are presumed to be given to the Avranches because of their involvement during the Norman Conquest. Adam d'Avranches assisted William the Conqueror in the 1066, when his army of Normans was victorious over the Anglo - Saxson forces, at the Battle of Hastings.
