=== Life Sketch ===
His father died when he was young, leaving at least six children. Two sisters entered Benedictine houses in Lincolnshire, one becoming a nun at Stixwould priory, while the other became prioress of Stainfield. His younger brother, Anthony, became a prebendary of Lincoln cathedral. Another sister, Joan, married into the Engaine family. [2]
He married firstly Laura daughter of Sir Herbert St. Quintin and Margery Lisle. (She was widow of Robert Grey who died by Nov. 1367.) They has one son [2]
Herbert, the only child this marriage, is said to have taken Sir Robert Hilton’s daughter and coheir, Elizabeth, as his wife, although he died without issue. [2]
She then died in 1369, leaving him her scattered inheritance, which he exploited to the full. [2]
He married secondly Agnes Herbert widow of John Wassand of Wassand, Yorks. by whom he had two sons and one daughter. Kntd. by Dec. 1372.1[2]
John was around 30 years according the IPM of his sister Joan in 139
