  Walter was the son of John de Balun.
  Walter owned part of the manor of Much Marcle.
  He was the husband of Isolda daughter of Roger de Mortimer and Maud de Brewes,- He is said to have died after an accident at a tournament on his wedding day while at Southampton waiting to go to the Holy Land with Henry ll.
