' Inquisition concerning the institution of Master Wm de Burgo to the
church of Thornhill by presentation of John son of Ric de Thornhill.
Recording that the vacancy was caused by the death of master Gilbert,
formerly rector; that John de Thornhill, s & h of Sir Ric de Thornhill,
was the true patron; and that Sir John, grandfather of John, made the
last presentation. The value of the church of Thornhill is 40 marks;
it renders 40s yearly to the church of Dewsbury for sundry tithes '
