  Martin Leonhardt was a grandfather of Valentine Leonard, who married Elisabetha Wallacher and died in Davidson Co. NC in 1781.
  
  Martin Leonhardt was the father of (Hans) Michael Leonhardt* (father of Valentine Leonhard), and several other children, by several spouses. The knowledge we have about Martin comes directly from the church records of two Reformed Lutheran churches - one located in Stromberg, Bad Kreuznacher Landkreis, Rheinland-Pfalz ,Germany, and the other located in Rockenhausen, Donnersbergkreis, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany.
  
  These church records indicate that Martin first lived in the village of Stromberg, then in or near a closeby village to the south - Neidermoschel. After this, Martin lived thirdly in the village of Katzenbach, yet further to the south. The following lists the events in the life of Martin Leonhardt, as recorded in the record books mentioned above.
  
  Martin Leonhardt one of the (at least) six children of Hauprecht Leonhardt and his spouse Anna Maria, and was baptized (born) on 07 Nov 1659 in Stromberg, Germany. [Hauprecht Leonhardt had additional children by a second spouse Anna Christina.]

  During the period of time between 1695 and 1704, the spouse Anna Elisabetha died, and Martin lived in Neidermoschel. Then Martin migrated to, and farmed near the village to the south of Katzenbach. Katzenbach is near the town of Rockenhausen, where there is a Reformed Lutheran Church. Martin and his family worshiped at this church, and so his family church records were with this church.
  
  On 11 Nov 1704 in Katzenbach, Martin Leonhardt married the widow of David Spohn, named Anna Barbara [surname not given]. Martin was described as being a tenant plowman (i.e., he did not own his own team). On 14 Feb 1706 in the Rockenhausen church, Martin and Anna Barbara baptized their only known child together - Johann Sebastian Leonhard.
  
  During the period 1706-1713, Martin married his next spouse - Elisabetha Catharina. She and Martin baptized the following children in Rockenhausen, Germany, on the indicated dates:
