Roger de Arundell, described in Domesday Book as holding lands in Dorset and Somerset, 20 Will. Conqueror, A.D. 1086. [His eldest son was] Gilbert de Arundell de Foresta, 1 son; [he married] Rosamund, da. and coheir of John de Novant. [Their eldest son] William de Arundell held lands in Cornwall [and married] Sibilla [Their son was] William de Arundell. [The second son of Gilbert and Rosamund was] Richard de Arundell [who married] Juliana. [Their son] Humphry de Arundell took the lands of his uncle William Arundell and his son William, in Cornwall, forfeited by rebellion, as next heir, 8 Feb. 1216. Rot. Litt. Claus. 17 John, M. 10"
